Seafoods from Manila Bay

In the news today is the scare generated on the dangers of eating seafoods from Manila Bay. I am happy that such issues are coming up. Eating in restaurants around Metro Manila always start with me asking the waiters/waitresses where are their seafoods coming from. In most cases the answer is we dont know, and that always made me not to order for any seafoods. Journeys to the supermarket and other markets seafood section starts with the same question, that for those who are now familiar with me knows that i wont be buying any if the answers would be i dont know, and places anywhere surrounding Manila Bay. The reason is, being a fisheries and marine ecology practitioner, i am aware of the dangers present in those seafoods from areas like Manila Bay.
My advice is that, always ask your food service provider where is their source, otherwise do not eat any at all just to be on the safe side. This is also why traceability is very important.
